FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots announced the release of second-year offensive tackle Kyle Hix on Monday. He injured his shoulder Aug. 5 in practice.
According to a source, Hix was waived/injured, meaning that he will return to the team's injured reserve list if he clears waivers.
Hix, who played in college at Texas, had shown some promise early in camp as a developmental prospect. The 23-year old spent all of last season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
