ANALYSIS: The final series was odd in that it was the first time linebacker Bobby Carpenter played defense in the game. He replaced Rob Ninkovich for the final three plays. There was no injury announced for Ninkovich at the game, and if was a straight-up switch, that's a tough position for Carpenter to be put in at that point of the game. Also, rookie safety Nate Ebner was thrust into a tough spot, with his six snaps coming over the final seven plays of the game. That reflects how the Patriots were shuffling the deck at the critical moments in the game because of some injury considerations. … Anxious to re-watch the game to see if Chandler Jones tired late. The Patriots needed a big rush at the end of the game, and while Jones was disruptive early, Russell Wilson had time to operate in the fourth quarter. … Starting right cornerback Kyle Arrington was demoted after the second series, with rookie Alfonzo Dennard elevated into his role. Arrington played only seven snaps the rest of the game, all coming in the slot in sub. … Cornerback Ras-I Dowling played a linebacker-type role in the dime package (6 defensive backs). … With linebacker Dont’a Hightower out, as well as Tracy White, the Patriots moved Rob Ninkovich to linebacker and inserted Jermaine Cunningham at left end. Seemed like a quiet game for Cunningham (1 solo, 1 assisted tackle).
