With all Week 12 games involving AFC teams in the books, here's a reset of the AFC playoff picture for the Patriots, including divisional and conference snapshots.
AFC East
Patriots 49, Jets 19 (Thursday)
What it means: The Patriots improve to 8-3 while the Jets fall to 4-7. Barring a miraculous swing of events, the Jets are no longer a contender for the division crown.
Dolphins 24, Seahawks 21
What it means: The Dolphins seemingly saved their season with a late field goal to push them ahead of Seattle and now find themselves back in the thick of the AFC wild-card race.
Colts 20, Bills 13
What it means: The Bills lose a critical game with a chance to pull within a game of the wild-card-leading Colts. They now stand at 4-7 and, like the Jets, will need a miraculous turn of events to be a factor for the division.
AFC games of note
Texans 34, Detroit 31 (overtime -- Thursday)
What it means: Houston earned a win thanks in part to a controversial call, but nonetheless stand a game clear of the AFC field at 10-1. They come to Gillette Stadium in Week 14, which will certainly be a game loaded with playoff implications.
Ravens 16, Chargers 13 (overtime)
What it means: The win pushes Baltimore's record to 9-2, second best in the AFC. By virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker, the Ravens hold what is essentially a two-game lead over the Patriots.
Broncos 17, Chiefs 9
What it means: The Broncos stay atop the AFC West and are tied with the Patriots with an 8-3 mark. Because of a head-to-head victory in Week 5, however, the Patriots hold the tiebreaker between the teams.
