BB: 'Don't win a war by digging a foxhole'

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- With the playoffs upon them, the Patriots understand that their season will be on the brink every time they take the field. It's win or go home. There is no more banking on next week to sort through mistakes.

"We all understand that," head coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday. "Every player, every coach, everybody that participates in the game. We all understand exactly what it is."

It’s also no time to take a conservative approach.

"You don't win a war by digging a foxhole and sitting in it," he said. "You've got to go out there and attack, you've got to make the plays that you need to make to win. It's a one-game season."

The Patriots will be on the practice field again Wednesday in their continued prep for the Houston Texans. After getting a bye in the first round, the Patriots host Houston on Sunday in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Belichick is no stranger to the postseason, and he understands that every play -- good or bad -- is amplified.
