FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Wednesday's injury scare with quarterback Tom Brady piqued my interest on how the Patriots compare with the rest of the NFL in terms of numbers at the position.
That's when it helps to have someone like Mike Sando on your coverage team.
Sando, who keeps a league-wide roster database as part of his work covering the NFC West and the NFL for ESPN.com, passed along a quick spreadsheet with the answer.
We all know the Patriots have three quarterbacks on their roster -- Tom Brady, Ryan Mallett and Tim Tebow. They are one of nine teams in the NFL to be carrying just three quarterbacks (as of Tuesday).
The majority of NFL teams are carrying four at this time when clubs can have a 90-man roster. By the time rosters are trimmed to 53 players later this month, most clubs will be down to two or three.
