Projecting the Patriots' inactives

Before the New England Patriots play a game, we'll attempt to predict the team's inactive players.

Our best guess on the list for Monday's road game against the Panthers:

Chris Barker: Rookie guard from Nevada, claimed on waivers from the Dolphins at the 53-man roster cutdown, has been inactive for six games as he's on the developmental track.

Steve Beauharnais: Linebacker, a seventh-round pick out of Rutgers, is on the developmental track as he's been inactive for six games this season.

Jake Bequette: The mid-October signing of veteran defensive end Andre Carter bumps him down the depth chart behind Rob Ninkovich, Chandler Jones, Carter and Michael Buchanan.

Josh Boyce: Rookie receiver has been inactive the past four games and we'll play a hunch that the Patriots will go with Kenbrell Thompkins over him for the No. 4 spot this week.

Alfonzo Dennard: Starting cornerback missed practice Saturday with a knee injury and has been ruled out by the team.

Steve Gregory: Starting safety broke his right thumb Nov. 3 and has been ruled out by the team.

Leon Washington: Veteran running back/kickoff returner is on the comeback trail from an ankle injury that has kept him out the past four games but it just comes down to if there is room on the 46-man game-day roster based on other needs.

(Note: This update was edited to include Alfonzo Dennard after the team announced he was downgraded to out.)
