Catching up with former Patriots

Every Wednesday during the season, we led off the day with a quick recap of notable former New England Patriots players and their standing with new teams. Here is the final entry for the 2013 regular season:

Jake Ballard (Cardinals)

Tight end plays 16 of 73 snaps and has one catch for one yard and a touchdown in a 23-20 home loss to the 49ers.

Season snapshot: Was with the Cardinals for eight games since signing Nov. 4, playing 167 of 565 snaps and totaling seven catches for 75 yards and two TDs.

Patrick Chung (Eagles)

Safety starts and plays 66 of 66 snaps in a 24-22 road win over the Cowboys to clinch the NFC East title. Totals 10 tackles but also misses one as the last line of defense on a Dez Bryant catch-and-run touchdown.

Season snapshot: Started 10 of 16 games and was credited with 59 tackles.

Jermaine Cunningham (Jets)

Outside linebacker is inactive in a 20-7 road win over the Browns.

Season snapshot: Spent the month of October with the 49ers, but never appeared in a game. Signed with the Jets on Nov. 20 and played in one game (6 snaps, no stats).

Brandon Deaderick (Jaguars)

Defensive tackle was placed on injured reserve (elbow) on Dec. 23.

Season snapshot: In 13 games, played 301 snaps, totaling nine tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery and one pass defended.

A.J. Francis (Dolphins)

Defensive tackle is inactive in a 20-7 home loss to the Jets.

Season snapshot: Signed off the Patriots' practice squad Nov. 26, he was inactive in his five games with Miami.

Greg Salas (Jets)

Receiver plays eight of 72 snaps in a road win over the Dolphins. Has one catch for six yards.

Season snapshot: In eight games with the Jets since making his debut Nov. 3, he had eight catches for 143 yards. Played 156 of 500 offensive snaps in those games.

Zach Sudfeld (Jets)

Tight end plays 13 snaps on offense and eight on special teams in a road win over the Dolphins and has one catch for seven yards.

Season snapshot: Tight end played 144 offensive snaps in 11 games. Totaled five catches for 63 yards.

Jeff Tarpinian (Texans)

Linebacker starts in a 16-10 road loss to the Titans, playing 66 of 67 defensive snaps while totaling six tackles (1 for a loss).

Season snapshot: After signing with the Texans on Oct. 28, has played in eight games, totaling 19 tackles on defense. Played 180 of 548 defensive snaps.

Leon Washington (Titans)

Primary kickoff and punt returner in a home win over the Texans -- one punt return for 18 yards and three fair catches, and two kickoff returns for 54 yards.

Season snapshot: Released by the Patriots on Nov. 23; signed with the Titans on Nov. 26, and played in five games as the team's primary kickoff and punt returner.

Wes Welker (Broncos)

Receiver is inactive in a 34-14 road win over the Raiders, as he's sidelined for the third straight week with a concussion.

Season snapshot: Played 770 of 1,207 offensive snaps (63.7 percent), and totaled 73 catches for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Danny Woodhead (Chargers)

Running back plays 36 of 73 offensive snaps in a 27-24 overtime home win over the Chiefs to clinch a playoff berth. Has five carries for 18 yards and seven catches for 42 yards.

Season snapshot: Totaled 76 receptions for 605 yards and six TDs, and carried the ball 106 times for 429 yards and two TDs. Played 501 offensive snaps.

Others: Colts starting guard Donald Thomas landed on season-ending injured reserve in Week 2. ... Defensive end Trevor Scott played four games (54 snaps) with the Buccaneers before he was released Oct. 24. ... Punter Zoltan Mesko was released by the Steelers on Oct. 29 after appearing in seven games and ranking 31st in punting average (42.5) and 29th in net punting average (36.7). He signed with the Bengals on Dec. 31 and should be punting for them in the wild-card round of the playoffs... Quarterback Brian Hoyer started two games for the Browns, leading them to two wins, before tearing his ACL in his third start and landing on season-ending injured reserve. ... Linebacker/defensive end Marcus Benard, who was cut late in the preseason, hooked on with the Cardinals and has played in 12 games, with one start, totaling 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He was a factor on special teams, as evidenced by him totaling 2 tackles in the season finale ... Defensive tackle Kyle Love spent training camp with the Jaguars, was released before the season opener, before signing with the Chiefs on Nov. 19. Love appeared in one of two games with the Chiefs, playing two snaps, before being waived Dec. 3. He re-signed with the Jaguars on Dec. 23 and played in a season-ending loss to the Colts (37 of 70 snaps; 4 tackles).
