It won't generate the same buzz as in-house visits with top prospects Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater, but the Patriots continued to focus on the quarterback position Friday by inviting Boston College's Chase Rettig to Gillette Stadium as part of their local prospect day.
One difference with Rettig's visit is that he actually worked out for team officials, along with other local prospects.
The Patriots obviously have watched Rettig closely over the last four seasons at nearby Boston College, where he completed 685 of 1,242 passes for 8,263 yards and 52 touchdowns in 46 career games. He is 6-foot-2 1/4 and 208 pounds, and NFL.com recently wrote on him participating in a regional NFL combine in Southern California.
He also was part of the College All-Star Bowl game.
