Prior to tight end Owen Daniels signing with the Baltimore Ravens last week, he took a free-agent visit to the New England Patriots.
This information comes to us from ESPN.com NFL Nation Houston Texans reporter Tania Ganguli, who caught up with Daniels at a charity golf tournament Monday. Daniels, of course, was a longtime Houston Texan (2006-2013).
In addition to the Patriots, Daniels also visited with the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins.
The Patriots' visit with the 31-year-old Daniels highlights part of the team's thinking when it comes to the "move" tight end position. D.J. Williams is the top option on the current depth chart, and there is a possibility that the club could look at first-year receiver Mark Harrison in that type of role.
There aren't many question marks on the current Patriots roster, but the "move" tight end spot is one of them.
As it stands now, Williams, a fourth-year player who has previously been with the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars, has a nice opportunity to potentially seize.
