The Patriots announced the signings of rookie wide receivers Wilson Van Hooser and Reese Wiggins on Tuesday.
Van Hooser, who transferred to Troy State after three years at Tulane, is 6-foot and 197 pounds. The 23-year-old played in 10 games last season, totaling 13 receptions for 188 yards, while returning 15 kickoffs for 237 yards.
The 5-foot-11, 193-pound Wiggins, of East Carolina, was an All-Conference USA honorable mention performer last season after totaling 26 receptions for 372 yards and four touchdowns. He finished his career with 80 catches for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns.
The addition of Van Hooser and Wiggins could be tied to second-year receiver Aaron Dobson not being ready for organized team activities, which was expected after he underwent surgery in February for a stress fracture in his left foot, as more depth was sought at the position.
The Patriots' roster is now at the maximum 90 players.
