When New England Patriots director of college scouting Jon Robinson departed in May to become director of player personnel in Tampa Bay, it created a notable void in the team's personnel department.
Now we know how the Patriots will fill it.
As expected at the time of Robinson's departure, the club has promoted former assistant director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort to the role.
Ossenfort enters his 13th NFL season and 10th with the Patriots, having worked his way up from personnel assistant, to area scout, then national scout and assistant director of college scouting. He was a four-year letterman and two-year starter at quarterback at Minnesota-Morris. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in economics and management, and then went on to earn his master's degree in business administration/sports management from Ohio University.
Ossenfort's promotion is the most notable change in the Patriots' scouting department in 2014.
Meanwhile, Michelle Martini has been elevated to the position of associate director of football operations. The Lexington, Massachusetts, native and Boston College graduate (Class of 2011) spent the last three seasons as a football operations assistant.
In the role, Martini coordinates all travel and accommodations for home and road games, training camp logistics, stadium operations, and played a key role in the team's office-renovation project.
