Introducing Tedy Bruschi's offensive line index

As a way to attempt to measure the effectiveness of each team’s offensive line, Tedy Bruschi puts together a weekly index that includes categories of sacks taken, pass-protection percentage (percentage of plays where the offense controls the line of scrimmage), rushing yards per game, yards before contact per rush, and short-yardage percentage (applied when distance to a first down is 1 yard or less).

As it relates to the Patriots, the unit checks in 23rd overall. The pass protection percentage and short-yardage percentages stand out for their lower marks.
