Hale out as bench coach; Bogar, Tuck back

DALLAS--DeMarlo Hale, a Red Sox coach since 2006 and bench coach for the last two seasons, will not be returning to the team in 2012, a major-league source said here Tuesday night.

Tim Bogar, the team's third-base coach, and Gary Tuck, the bullpen coach, will be returning, along with hitting coach Dave Magadan, who was told he was coming back last week. All three, along with Hale, had another year left on their Red Sox contracts.

Hale is expected to be hired as third-base coach by the Baltimore Orioles.

New Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine reportedly is interested in former Dodger Jerry Royster as bench coach, but Royster has yet to be interviewed by Red Sox GM Ben Cherington.

Royster played for five big-league teams and managed the Milwaukee Brewers for most of one season. He also has wide experience as a big-league coach and minor-league manager.
