The team that gave us the Jack Kerouac Bobblehead Night and the Human Home Run has done it again.
The Lowell Spinners, in their own variation of Valentine’s Day, plans to host "Bobby Valentine's Day" on July 14 at LeLacheur Park.
"When the Red Sox introduced Bobby Valentine as their new manager, this promotion was a no-brainer," Spinners vice president Jon Goode said in a release. "When we broached the idea with Bobby at the winter meetings, he threw his support behind it and we started the planning process."
The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a pink "Bobby Valentine's Day" Spinners baseball. Fans who do not receive a baseball will be rewarded with Valentine's candies and cards, so no fan is left lonely on Bobby Valentine's Day.
The concourse will feature a Valentine's card swap area, with Valentines available for younger fans to give to each other, their favorite Spinners players, or to Bobby Valentine. The area also will have other Valentine's Day favorites, including Hershey's Kisses and NECCO hearts.
With Bobby V in mind, the concession stand also will feature wrap sandwiches, in honor of their (ahem) inventor, and the team will celebrate Valentine’s ballroom-dancing skills with a between-innings dancing contest.
