Sox deal Lillibridge for minor league arm

The Boston Red Sox made a minor trade on Tuesday, dealing utility man Brent Lillibridge to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor league pitcher Jose De La Torre.

The 26-year-old De La Torre is a right-hander currently pitching for Double-A Akron, where he is 7-1 with a 2.80 in 27 appearances, one as a starter. He was also 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA for Triple-A Columbus this season. He has been assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Lillibridge, who was acquired as part of the deal that sent Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox, was designated for assignment by the Sox last week, meaning the team had 10 days to either trade or release him.
