Bailey expected to join Sox on Tuesday

It seems the Red Sox will get some bullpen help Tuesday in Baltimore as Andrew Bailey is expected to be activated from the disabled list, according to multiple reports.

The righthander, who has missed all season recovering from surgery to repair a thumb injury suffered early in spring training, retired all four batters he faced for Triple A Pawtucket on Sunday in Buffalo.

Bailey has made six appearances and thrown 6 1/3 innings during his rehab assignment, allowing one run on six hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

When he was acquired from the A's this offseason (along with Ryan Sweeney in exchange for Josh Reddick and a pair of prospects), Bailey figured to be the replacement for Jonathan Papelbon as the Red Sox closer.
