BOSTON -- It may not ever be worthy of a "Memorable Moment" nod in the Red Sox Hall of Fame, but Jackie Bradley sure picked a good time to draw a walk for the first time in three weeks on Thursday night.
Up with the bases loaded and the game tied at 4-4 after the Red Sox scored three runs in the sixth to chase Houston starter Scott Feldman, Bradley worked reliever Darin Downs for a full-count walk -- Bradley's first since July 24 -- to push the Boston Red Sox ahead in their eventual 9-4 win over the Houston Astros.
The RBI was Bradley's first since July 21.
After being held to a run on four hits through the first five innings of the game, Boston's batters finally broke through in their third trip to the plate against Feldman. Brock Holt led the inning off with a double, kicking off a span of three singles in four batters that amounted to two Red Sox runs. Daniel Nava then walked, loading the bases for Will Middlebrooks, who flared an RBI single to center to tie the game. After Bradley's go-ahead walk against Downs, the Red Sox tacked on three more runs -- two on a Dustin Pedroia ground-rule double.
In all, the Red Sox sent 12 men to the plate in the sixth inning and scored seven runs on six hits. Seven of the Red Sox's nine total runs were charged to Feldman, who dropped to 6-9 on the season.
The Astros are now 0-8 all-time at Fenway Park.
Webster wobbles, but doesn't fall down: Coming off a strong start against the Los Angeles Angels last time out, Allen Webster pitched himself out of trouble on several occasions Thursday night to earn his third win of the season.
Allowing the first batter to reach in four of his six innings, Webster gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits -- one of which was a Matt Dominguez two-run homer off the light tower in left-center. The 24-year-old elicited two key double plays and worked around three walks in posting back-to-back quality outings for the first time in his career.
Relievers Alex Wilson, Junichi Tazawa and Craig Breslow combined to pitch three scoreless innings to close out the win.
Never count Nava out: Part of a trio consisting of MLB outfield assist leader Bradley and second-ranked Yoenis Cespedes, Nava showed off his arm in the seventh inning, gunning down Jake Marisnick at home for an inning-ending double play -- the first of Nava's major league career as an outfielder.
Nava also had a good showing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored.
Productive Pedroia: The second baseman put together a night of 3-for-5, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Pregame proceedings: Prior to the game, former players Nomar Garciaparra, Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez, along with broadcaster Joe Castiglione, were inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame.
