Bogaerts, Middlebrooks both day-to-day

BOSTON -- Scratched from the starting lineup prior to Tuesday’s 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (stiff neck) and Will Middlebrooks (sprained right hand) are being considered day-to-day with their respective injuries.

“Will reaggravated the right hand in BP here today,” Farrell said after the game. “It was the same hand that he’s been hit on when we were down in Texas. It’s not the finger that was broken earlier in the year.

“Xander still felt some pinching sensation, stiff neck during BP today. That was the result of the ball that he was hit with in BP on Sunday down in Baltimore.”

Bogaerts left Sunday’s game in the third inning as a result of his stiff neck.

Jemile Weeks went 1-for-2 with an RBI in Bogaerts’ place Tuesday while Garin Cecchini went 1-for-4 filling in for Middlebrooks.
