A weekly examination of the Bills' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 30 | Last Week: 26 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
Well, that was unexpected.
After losing their second division game of the season, 27-20 to the Jets, the Bills actually moved up two spots in the Power Rankings to No. 24.
Buffalo benefited from a big shuffle in the bottom third of the rankings, with Carolina moving from No. 27 to No. 21, and Cleveland from No. 31 to No. 25. Meanwhile, the 0-3 Giants plummeted from No. 20 to No. 29.
The voters' moods on the Bills were mixed. Kevin Seifert and Dan Graziano both placed them at No. 24, the highest votes received by Buffalo, while Mike Sando had the Bills six spots lower at No. 30.
Where would I rank the Bills? I think they're in the correct range at the moment. They're better than the Browns and it's hard to put them behind any 0-3 teams. You could argue that they should be higher than the Panthers (No. 21), since Carolina lost at Buffalo in Week 2, but more games will help decide that gridlock of 1-2 teams.
