PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills running back Boobie Dixon is expected to miss several weeks with a calf injury, coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday.

"Sometimes those things can last a while," Ryan said. "That can be a severe thing. Sometimes a guy can be out three, four weeks at least even. It seems like it was pretty substantial, so I'm not sure we're going to get Boobie at least for the next couple of weeks."

Dixon left Monday's practice early and was not spotted at Wednesday's session.

"It's big," Ryan said. "Obviously wish we had him. He's a guy who loves to practice. Clearly loves to play, as well. He's a huge contributor on special teams for us, as well as being a running back. So it's a big loss to us if he loses any significant time."

With LeSean McCoy also sitting out team drills Monday and Wednesday with a minor toe injury, the Bills rotated first-team reps at running back between Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown.
