Quarterback guru Joe Dickinson observing Bills' practices

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills have another set of eyes on their unsettled quarterback situation this week, as outside quarterback coach Joe Dickinson has been observing practice.

Dickinson, who has been dressed in Bills gear and on the field since at least Monday's practice, is a coach for DeBartolo Sports University.

"He's a friend of mine," coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday. "He's just coming out here and trying to ... he's a quarterback guy. But he's not officially employed by the Bills."

Dickinson has consulted with quarterbacks coach David Lee during practices this week. A former college offensive coordinator -- most recently for Central Oklahoma in 2006 -- Dickinson's website lists him as having tutored current Bills quarterback EJ Manuel, as well as former Bills quarterbacks Jeff Tuel and J.P. Losman.

Manuel also has worked with QB gurus George Whitfield, Steve Calhoun and Ken Mastrole.
