CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Here’s a Super Bowl 50 fashion story that has nothing to do with quarterback Cam Newton's postgame attire.
The Broncos, as the designated home team, announced they will be wearing all white uniforms on Feb. 7.
Carolina is 0-2 in the playoffs in black jerseys, 9-4 in white. But one of those losses in all white was the Super Bowl following the 2003 season.
As for the pants, the best guess is the Panthers will go with silver. There’s a chance they could go with all black uniforms, but it seems unlikely.
They went with the all-black look in a 2013 playoff game against San Francisco, a 23-10 loss. They wore the all-black look for the first time against Denver in 2012 and lost 36-14 at home.
But apparently the fans like all black. A few years ago, according to an NFL.com poll, that combination was voted the “Greatest Uniform in NFL History’’ even though Carolina had worn it only once at the time.
In case you were wondering, the Broncos are 0-4 in Super Bowls in which they wore their orange jerseys.
