CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- December appears to be the "Chosen" month for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to become a father.
Newton and his longtime girlfriend Kia are expecting their second December baby any day, the father of the reigning NFL MVP told NBC Charlotte's Michelle Boudin on Tuesday.
"We are excited," Cecil Newton told Boudin.
Newton's first child was born last Christmas Eve and promptly named Chosen Sebastian.
Why Chosen?
"Every person that I've had this conversation with I say, 'I didn't want him to have the pressure of being the Junior,' " Newton told reporters when he revealed the name. "Then they replied with, 'What the hell do you think Chosen is going to bring?'
"It's something that I think he grows up and appreciates rather than ... have a couple of names in his class of the same name as him when they're doing morning roll call and they say his name."
Boudin made the birth announcement on Twitter as Newton began his annual Santa Cam Surprise Sleigh trip around the Charlotte area, beginning with Barringer Academic Center.

No word on what whether Chosen's sibling will be a girl or a boy, or what the baby will be named.
