Bears sign DL David Carter, WR AJ Cruz

The Chicago Bears signed defensive lineman David Carter to a one-year contract and wide receiver AJ Cruz to a three-year contract, and waived linebacker Jonathan Brown, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Bears' offseason roster current sits at the NFL maximum 90 players.

Carter played in 35 games (four starts) over three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2011-12) and Dallas Cowboys (2013), recording 30 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and four tackles for loss. Carter spent portions of the 2014 offseason with Oakland and Jacksonville, but failed to make the Jaguars' 53-man roster last summer.

Cruz is a two-year veteran of the Arena Football League where he played for the LA Kiss (2014) and Arizona Rattlers (2015). Cruz turned out to be a dangerous special teams weapon in 2015, returning 51 kickoffs for 1,221 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. Cruz added 27 catches for 220 yards and five receiving touchdowns, to go along with three rushing touchdowns this past season.
