The Chicago Bears re-signed outside linebacker Sam Acho and placed defensive lineman Cornelius Washington on injured reserve, according to the NFL transaction wire.
The Bears terminated Acho’s contract last Saturday due to a non-football illness, but a roster spot opened up after Washington suffered a season-ending injury in the Bears’ 31-23 loss to Green Bay.
Acho started 33 games for the Arizona Cardinals from 2011-14 and projects to be a key contributor on special teams when he recovers from his undisclosed illness.
Washington -- selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL draft -- played eight total snaps (seven on special teams and one on defense) versus the Packers in Week 1.
