DALLAS -- One dilemma the Chicago Bears face this offseason revolves around the future of center Olin Kreutz.
Kreutz, 33, is one of several veteran free agents the Bears must make a decision on for next season.
One person pushing for the Bears to re-sign Kreutz is Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line assistant coach Harold Goodwin, who served in the same capacity for the Bears from 2004-06.
"Bring him back," Goodwin said Thursday. "The biggest thing about Olin is his leadership. I've been watching film on him the last few games because we didn't know who we were going to face in the Super Bowl. Let me tell you, he can still play. All the things I saw him do when I was with the Bears, he can still do now. It's a no-brainer to re-sign him, No. 1 as a player, but No. 2 as a leader.
"He's a guy who's in the building late. He studies just like a coach. He's going to study the personnel groupings and individuals he's going to face. He wanted to know everything possible in advance to be ready for the next game. He did that with us, and I assume he did the same thing with [offensive line coach] Mike Tice.
"Olin is one a kind. He's a legend in Chicago, and I'm pretty sure he's a legend back in Hawaii. At the end of the day, if you're on his team, he's going to protect you and have your back. That's why guys love him and love to play with him."
