John Fox unsure Martellus Bennett will attend mandatory minicamp

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said on Wednesday that he’s unsure if tight end Martellus Bennett plans to report next week to the club’s mandatory three-day minicamp.

Bennett has missed the entire voluntary offseason program over a contract dispute, but the team can fine him each day he skips of next week's minicamp that is scheduled to run June 16-18.

“Don’t know that,” Fox said when asked if he expects Bennett to be present. “Again, it’s different implications on mandatory minicamp. But we’ll wait and see.”

The 2014 Pro Bowl tight end is seeking a raise from the $4.9 million base salary he is scheduled to earn in 2015. Bennett has two years left on a four-year, $20.4 million deal he signed in March of 2013.

In addition to Bennett, several other Bears veteran players were absent from Wednesday’s organized team activities (OTAs), including defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, cornerback Tim Jennings, linebacker Jon Bostic and right tackle Jordan Mills.
