WR Alshon Jeffery unlikely to practice against Indianapolis

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Injured wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (mild calf strain) is expected to travel to with his teammates to Indianapolis, but is unlikely to practice against the Colts on Wednesday or Thursday, Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said.

“Yeah, I think it’s a pretty [good] idea that he won’t [practice],” Fox said. “We won’t rush it. If there’s a miraculous recovery ... all plans they change.”

General manager Ryan Pace recently stressed that Jeffery’s calf injury is not expected to keep him out of the regular-season opener.

“He has a mild calf strain. He's not going to participate versus Indianapolis. But this isn't a long-term injury with Alshon,” Pace said. “We don’t anticipate that [he’ll] miss the Green Bay game.”

Fox said tight end Chris Pantale (illness) is the only player who will not make the trip to Indianapolis.

Safety Ryan Mundy (left hip) and running back Daniel Thomas (knee) had partial participation in Tuesday’s practice at Halas Hall.
