Hawks trade pick for goalie Henrik Karlsson

The Chicago Blackhawks traded a 2013 seventh-round draft pick for Calgary Flames goaltender Henrik Karlsson on Monday.

Karlsson was assigned to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL following the trade.

The 29-year-old Karlsson has played 26 regular-season games with the Flames over the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. He is 5-9-8 with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage with the Flames. He has not played for the Flames or the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat this season.

Karlsson began his professional career in the Swedish Elite League. He was signed by the San Jose Sharks on Aug. 12, 2009 and traded to the Flames on June 25, 2010.

The draft pick the Blackhawks traded was originally acquired from the Ottawa Senators in a trade for Rob Klinkhammer on Dec. 2, 2011.
