Hawks' Hossa to miss third straight game

DENVER, Colo. -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa stepped onto the ice in Denver, but only briefly.

After Hossa took part in Tuesday's morning skate prior to a game against the Colorado Avalanche, coach Joel Quenneville ruled Hossa out for the third consecutive game because of a lower-body injury.

The decision came as morning practice wound down; Hossa skated over to Quenneville alongside the bench and the two talked for a couple of minutes.

"(It was) close the last couple, three games," Quenneville said. "I think they were all, ‘We'll see,' and we were hopeful he could play."

At the start of a seven-game trip away from the United Center, Quenneville hopes Hossa will return when the Hawks face the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Hossa has nine goals and six assists in 19 games this season.
