Cubs send Takahashi to Rockies

CHICAGO –- The Chicago Cubs continue to make moves that figure to be precursors to bigger deals down the line.

Left-handed reliever Hisanori Takahashi was traded to the Colorado Rockies organization for a player to be named later or cash.

That move was in addition to Friday’s deal when the Cubs sent Brent Lillibridge to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later and cash considerations.

Takahashi pitched in just three games with the Cubs this season, giving up two runs while facing 14 batters. He has spent the bulk of the year at Triple-A Iowa, where he posted a 1.98 ERA over 20 appearances (27 1/3 innings).

The Rockies will reportedly assign Takahashi to their Triple-A affiliate in Colorado Springs.
