Mike Olt OK after getting hit below wrist by a pitch

DENVER -- Chicago Cubs third baseman Mike Olt had a moment of concern after getting hit below the right wrist by a pitch in the ninth inning of the Cubs 9-5 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.

“I couldn’t feel anything but I think that was from the shock of getting hit,” Olt said after the game. “It hurt but it’s fine now.”

Olt left the game for X-rays, which showed no break. His hand was wrapped when he met reporters but Olt had a relieved smile on his face.

“I got lucky nothing worse happened,” he said. “There’s not much meat around it.”

Manager Joe Maddon wasn’t sure if Olt would play on Sunday after helping the Cubs to victory with his first home run of the season, but it doesn’t sound like a disabled list stint is in the offing.

“We’re going to approach as if he’s sore tomorrow (Sunday),” Maddon stated.
