Cubs nine-game winning streak by the numbers

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs won their ninth consecutive game on Saturday night, a 6-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox. A few numbers to consider:

  • The Cubs last won nine games in a row from May 26-June 3, 2008.

  • The Cubs are 8-1 in their last nine road games and have the best road record (33-24) in the National League.

  • Jake Arrieta set a career high in innings pitched (156.2) after throwing 6 2/3 on Saturday. He has 11 quality starts in a row.

  • Hector Rondon earned the 50th save of his career on Saturday becoming the 11th Cub ever to record that many. It was his 21st of the season. Rondon has a 0.50 ERA over his last 36 appearances.

  • Kris Bryant extended his hitting streak to 12 games. He's 14-for-40 (.350) over that span.

  • Dexter Fowler was on-base three more times improving his percentage to .438 since the All-Star break.

  • Anthony Rizzo is 22-for-51 (.431) over his last 15 games.

  • Jorge Soler has hit in 10-of-11 with a .395 batting average.

  • Addison Russell had two doubles on Saturday giving him 22 on the season, second most on the team and tied for the lead among all rookies.
