According to a report on EPLTalk.com, the Chicago Fire are slated to face Manchester United this year in Chicago.
The report said that the Red Devils would face the Fire on Saturday, July 23, as part of the Premier League squad's 2011 summer tour that would include Seattle Sounders FC, the MLS All-Star Game and a match against Barcelona in Washington, D.C.
EPL Talk's report also said that a deal to play at Wrigley Field appears to have fallen through.
The Fire have not confirmed any game details, and a source with knowledge of the situation could only state the obvious -- that the Fire and Manchester United have been in discussions.
Manchester United trained at Toyota Park last year, holding an open training session on July 14 before the Fire's SuperLiga game against Monarcas Morelia.
Chicago-based Aon Corporation is Manchester United's official shirt sponsor.
