Fire signing midfielder Paladini

The Chicago Fire are signing midfielder Daniel Paladini, who is transferring from the Carolina RailHawks of the USSF Division 2 Professional League, RailHawks club officials announced Monday.

Paladini was a 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft selection of the Los Angeles Galaxy. But in his first stint in MLS, Paladini only saw the pitch eight times for Chivas USA in 2008.

Paladini then joined the RailHawks through a trial in December of 2008 and was part of head coach Martin Rennie's program.

"There were previous opportunities [in MLS]," Paladini said in the team's statement. "But after talking with Martin, I saw an opportunity to play games and believed it was pivotal to get the playing time and build my confidence on the field."

The Fire are awaiting league approval of Paladini's signing and have not distributed an official release. News of Paladini's signing first was reported at HotTimeInOldTown.com.

Also with RailHawks ties, former Fire defender Daniel Woolard was signed by D.C. United last Thursday.
