The Chicago Fire are addressing their offensive needs with Thursday's signing of Uruguayan forward Gaston Puerari, a 25-year-old striker from Montevideo Wanderers.
Puerari, a native of Paysandu, Uruguay, scored eight goals in 35 games with Wanderers since the start of the 2009 season. Before Wanderers, Puerari scored six goals in 30 games with Rampla Juniors.
"Gaston is a talented offensive player with the ability to make an impact for our club," Fire technical director Frank Klopas said in a statement. "We are excited to bring in a player with quick feet, good passing skills and the ability to finish on goal."
Puerari will join the Fire upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. He is the 10th player added to the team's preseason roster following the conclusion of the 2010 campaign.
