Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale was named American League Pitcher of the Month for May on Sunday.
He was the second straight Sox pitcher to earn the honor -- Jake Peavy won the award in April.
Sale was 4-1 with a league-best 1.71 ERA in May. He had 35 strikeouts and allowed hitters only a .181 average over six games (five starts) during the month.
He finished the month on a three-game winning streak and ended with a seven-inning, no-run outing in which he struck out 15 on May 28 at Tampa Bay.
The last time Chicago won multiple AL Pitcher of the Month awards in a season was 2005, when Jon Garland (April), Mark Buehrle (May) and Jose Contreras (September) all earned the honor.
