Montas scratched from Futures Game

CHICAGO – Right-handed pitcher Francellis Montas, who was scheduled to represent the Chicago White Sox in the Futures Game on July 13 in Minneapolis, will not participate because of a minor knee injury.

Montas, who injured his left knee during spring training, is now dealing with an injury to his right knee. The native of the Dominican Republic was set to play for the World Team. He is 4-0 with a 1.60 ERA at Class A Winston Salem over 10 starts.

The 21-year-old was acquired this past July in a three-team trade with the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox.

The White Sox still have one representative in the Futures Game: infielder Micah Johnson, who is slated to play for the United States squad. The 23-year-old is batting a combined .307 with 30 RBIs, 33 runs scored and 15 steals in 65 games in Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.
