White Sox activate Zach Putnam from DL

The Chicago White Sox activated right-handed reliever Zach Putnam from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners.

Putnam has been on the disabled list since July 24 with right shoulder inflammation. He appeared in one game with Triple-A Charlotte during his rehab assignment, working one scoreless inning with one strikeout Tuesday night.

Putnam, 27, takes the roster spot of right-hander Andre Rienzo, who was optioned to Charlotte after Thursday's game.

Putnam is 3-2 with a 2.35 ERA over 38 1/3 innings pitched and has three saves, 32 strikeouts and a team-leading 12 holds in 33 appearances this season, his first with the White Sox.
