CHICAGO -- Looking ahead to next weekend’s three-game series at the Cubs, manager Robin Ventura said it’s likely that designated hitter Adam Dunn will play left field.

Dunn has played 1,012 of his 1,604 career games in left field but none since 2009, when he appeared in 62 games there for the Washington Nationals. What’s more, Dunn has 25 career home runs at Wrigley Field.

“The way he’s swinging it and what he does for our lineup he needs to find a way to be in there,” Ventura said.

Ventura later quipped, “plus, he’ll enjoy the fans in the outfield. He likes to talk. He likes fan interaction.”

Dunn entered Sunday’s game hitting .248 in the No. 3 spot in the lineup. With 11 home runs already, he’s equaled last season’s home run total.
