Unless you had UCLA in your bracket, you had to cringe and immediately feel some sympathy for SMU's Yanick Moreira, who interfered with a UCLA 3-point attempt that was almost assuredly going to miss in the closing seconds of the Mustangs' NCAA tournament game against the Bruins. (You can watch it here and judge for yourself.)
UCLA was awarded the basket and won the game 60-59, leaving Moreira understandably devastated. The Mustangs' senior center, who grew up in Angola and ended putting together a solid college career in Dallas, took full responsibility at the postgame news conference and then took to Twitter after his last game in an SMU uniform ended in excruciating fashion.
I would like to apologize for all the SMU fans as senior I shouldn't make those type of mistake.. I'm really sorry— Yanick Moreira (@Ymoreira35) March 19, 2015
These guys don't deserve it 😔. It really hurts . All those mile run in the summer all those 2 a day to end my college career like this 😔😔😔😔— Yanick Moreira (@Ymoreira35) March 19, 2015
