The strong get stronger.
According to National Director of ESPN Recruiting Paul Biancardi, combo guard Austin Rivers has officially committed to Duke. Rated as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2011 in the ESPNU 100, the former Florida commitment has cancelled his upcoming visits to North Carolina and Kansas.
Winter Park (Fla.) High coach David Bailey told Biancardi that Rivers called Roy Williams, Bill Self and Mike Krzyzewski with the news.
Duke has long been the favorite for the son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, but the timing comes as a bit of a surprise considering he had an official visit lined up at UNC this weekend.
Check back with ESPN.com throughout the day as Biancardi and our recruiting team break down the potential impact of Rivers' commitment.
