Inside Jimmer Fredette's historic night

What happens in Vegas, stays in the record books.

At least when BYU guard Jimmer Fredette is involved.

Despite attempting just one free throw, Fredette scored a career-high 52 points in the Cougars’ 87-76 win over New Mexico in the Mountain West tournament semifinals. Before thousands of BYU faithful at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, Fredette began the night with 33 points in the first half and ended it with several spots reserved in the record book.

The 52 points -- on 22-of-37 shooting (7-14 from 3) -- tied for the most points scored by a Division I player this season and was the most by any player in any conference tournament over the last 15 years.
