Georgia record: 15-6 (2-1 SEC)

Highlight of the week: Georgia rallied from an early 5-1 deficit in Saturday’s game against Tennessee, with its 10-5 win clinching a series victory to open SEC play. Freshman Hunter Cole started the comeback with a two-run home run in the fourth inning and the Bulldogs went on to score nine unanswered runs.

Top offensive performer: Cole. The freshman outfielder had a couple of huge outings this week. He was 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs in the 23-6 against Alcorn State and went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in Saturday’s win against Tennessee. He batted .600 for the week (9-for-15) with two homers, six RBIs and three runs.

Top pitching performer: Chase Hawkins. The Georgia reliever (2-0) picked up his first two wins of the season, pitching four scoreless innings between victories against Alcorn State and Tennessee. He allowed three hits, struck out three and walked none in those four innings.

Key statistic: Thanks to a 30-hit explosion in the two games against Alcorn State, Georgia raised its team batting average by a whopping 15 points to .279 entering the weekend series.

Up next: Georgia will host No. 14 Georgia Tech (14-6) on Tuesday and will visit Vanderbilt (7-13, 0-3) for a three-game set that starts Friday.
