With the 2015 calendar year in the books, Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz shared the final numbers with his team. And they were impressive.

According to Trotz, from January to December 2015, the Capitals had the best record in the NHL, at 55-22-6. The Capitals were third in goals per game and first in goals against. They were No. 1 in goal differential. First on the power play. Second on the penalty kill.

After he shared those numbers with the players, along with the positive results of teams who had achieved similar success, he shared a reminder.

“We won’t be judged on what happens in 2015,” Trotz relayed. “We’ll be judged on what happens in 2016.”

We’re there.
