So far Romo is following only @GoNFFC, the National Fantasy Football Convention that he is supporting, so there might not be a ton of Cowboys’ news on that timeline.
Until he becomes more adept at Twitter, here is a week in review of the major happenings with the Cowboys and their NFC East foes:
Will Romo being handing off to Ryan Williams when the season starts? Williams hopes to have that happen, but he faces an uphill fight to make the final roster. When Gary Brown started talking about the running backs, he didn’t mention Williams and Stephen Jones referred to him as Ryan Mathews in one radio interview. I wouldn’t order a jersey just yet.
You can read Brown’s take on his top four runners here.
The Cowboys have had a productive offseason in the player acquisition business with Greg Hardy and three first-round talents for the price of one in the draft with Byron Jones, Randy Gregory and La’el Collins. Stephen Jones won’t say the Cowboys have exceeded expectations, but he did believe things fell right for the club.
Hardy has been impressing his teammates with his intensity.
Victor Cruz is coming along in his recovery from a torn patellar tendon, like Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne, and hopes to be back on the field in training camp, according to Giants’ NFL Nation reporter Dan Graziano. But will he be ready for the Sept. 13 opener against the Cowboys?
The four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady means he will not play against the Cowboys. The Eagles’ NFL Nation reporter, Phil Sheridan, points out that the other three teams in the NFC East will have to play against Brady. So advantage Cowboys? Perhaps so, but the suspension could be reduced pending appeal.
Perhaps the Washington Redskins best addition this offseason came off the field in general manager Scot McCloughan. He might find the job rough going considering the dysfunction in Washington, but so far he has been given praise for his work. This weekend, Redskins' NFL Nation reporter John Keim writes the new draft picks get their first chance to impress their new boss.
