Cowboys add Lache Seastrunk

IRVING, Texas -- It’s not quite the eye-raising move many expect the Dallas Cowboys to make at running back at some point in 2015, but the team cut undrafted free agent Synjyn Days and signed former Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk.

Seastrunk was a sixth-round pick of the Washington Redskins last year but was among the final cuts. He spent time on the practice squads of the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans. He was cut by the Titans last month.

In two years at Baylor he ran for 2,189 yards and had 18 touchdowns.

The Cowboys’ running back situation is one of great interest since losing DeMarco Murray and not addressing the position with a high-priced free agent signing or in the draft, but the immediate need for Seastrunk is to help the team get through practice.

Darren McFadden, who signed a two-year deal with the Cowboys with a $200,000 signing bonus, has been limited by a hamstring strain and Ryan Williams has been slowed with a sore knee.

The Cowboys also signed linebacker Justin Jackson after cutting Kyle Knox last Friday.
