A #coachingmatters Cuban conspiracy theory

Mark Cuban fired a rather transparent shot at Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks after the Thunder’s collapse Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Maybe this was simply a case of an outspoken owner calling it like he saw it. There was certainly reason to criticize Brooks after OKC’s offense became stagnant and failed to adjust to Doc Rivers’ decision to defend Kevin Durant with Chris Paul and double-teams, but it’s rare to say the least to have such a controversial opinion fired publicly from a rival front office.

Perhaps Cuban just felt like puffing out his chest about Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle, one of the Mavericks’ best assets. Arguably the best display of coaching genius during these playoffs was Carlisle figuring out a way to push the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs to seven games.

This was a subtweet intended for Durant. The MVP will be a free agent in the summer of 2016. The Mavs have every intention of managing the salary cap to enter the KD derby then. It’s not too early to lay the foundation for why the grass might be greener of the south side of the Red River, is it?
