Cotton Bowl seen by more in primetime

AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic officials were hoping that a Friday night slot a few days prior to the BCS Championship Game would help increase TV ratings. Overnight numbers show that's what happened.

The game scored a 5.8 rating and a 10 share, its highest rating in the BCS era and a 29 percent improvement over last year. It's the highest rated Friday night program on Fox since last year's Sugar Bowl.

We'll see if this means the game could become a staple under the lights at Cowboys Stadium. This year's edition was the first Cotton Bowl to be played at night.
