In a stunner, cornerback Cletis Gordon was told he was released today by the Cowboys.
Gordon was one of the leading cornerbacks during training camp where had an unofficial count of ten interceptions.
At one point during camp, secondary coach Dave Campo said Gordon was going to be the fourth cornerback.
Gordon had just one pick during the preseason.
"I'm shocked. He had a hell of a camp," Gordon's agent Rodney Edwards said. "I'm hoping some teams start calling here shortly."
The cutting of Gordon means the Cowboys will go with three cornerbacks: Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick.
Dallas could also have six safeties on the roster with Alan Ball, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Michael Hamlin, Danny McCray, Barry Church and Gerald Sensabaugh.
There is also a chance the Cowboys move Owusu-Ansah to corner. He played some corner in the last preseason game and in college.
